I noted on a website that shall remain nameless this morning, that they were claiming in bold letters '90S DARK LIPSTICK HAS RETURNED!' as if it was shocking. Anyone working the counters, brushes, sales or trends has known this for about six months.
I don't know why it's back but all day yesterday I was working a 90s dark brown lip. I normally go to Chesnut liner from MAC teamed with Film Noir lipstick also from MAC. However, MAC have just released, Antique Velvet which looks gorgeous when paired with the liner. It's also matte which suits me better as a finish.
The above lipstick is stone also from MAC. Stone now comes in a liner and a lipstick. I find the two together quite light but suits me better then the darker ones. The two lower lipsticks are Film Noir and Antique Velvet.
I cannot believe it takes people so long to notice a trend. Mind you, working a make up artist, I am on the front lines of noticing when trends start. This one has been coming a while now.
